For those under sentence of death
Lord Jesus Christ,
you were sentenced and put to death.
You carried your cross and died on it.
Through you, the world is saved.
Look now with compassion,
on all those under sentence of death,
walk with them in their last journeys,
and help them find peace in your example.
Help us always to remember
that justice must always include mercy,
to pray for the condemned and for those left behind.
For your name's sake. Amen.

Prayers
In this space you are invited to pray for the people who live in this house. Some you might have met already, others are unseen and others you will never see, because they are in solitary confinement, taken hostage or simply disappeared. Yet all these are here.
You might like to light a candle as a focus for meditation, or focus on a person, or someone highlighted by Amnesty. You could also focus your prayers on a local prison, or pray for your prison chaplains and visitors.
You could also use these prayers along with the Stations of the Cross or similar prayer journey of the last events of Jesus' life from his arrest to his death and resurrection.
