For those in prison and never visited
Lord Jesus Christ,
you were taken away by guards,
beaten, humiliated,
and no one came for you.
Look now with compassion,
on all those who have been forgotten
or abandoned in prison.
Offer them your friendship and love.
Help us always to be good neighbours,
visitors in person or in prayer,
knowing that when we reach out to those in prison,
we find You waiting.
For your name's sake. Amen.

Prayers
In this space you are invited to pray for the people who live in this house. Some you might have met already, others are unseen and others you will never see, because they are in solitary confinement, taken hostage or simply disappeared. Yet all these are here.
You might like to light a candle as a focus for meditation, or focus on a person, or someone highlighted by Amnesty. You could also focus your prayers on a local prison, or pray for your prison chaplains and visitors.
You could also use these prayers along with the Stations of the Cross or similar prayer journey of the last events of Jesus' life from his arrest to his death and resurrection.
