For those in solitary confinement
Lord Jesus Christ,
you knew what it was to be alone,
abandoned by friends,
and even, it seemed,
by God your Father.
Look now with compassion
on all those imprisoned alone
without human contact, company or speech.
Help us to stand with them in prayer
so that they may feel your presence,
your friendship and love
and so endure until they are restored
in the land of the living.
For your name's sake. Amen.

Prayers
In this space you are invited to pray for the people who live in this house. Some you might have met already, others are unseen and others you will never see, because they are in solitary confinement, taken hostage or simply disappeared. Yet all these are here.
You might like to light a candle as a focus for meditation, or focus on a person, or someone highlighted by Amnesty. You could also focus your prayers on a local prison, or pray for your prison chaplains and visitors.
You could also use these prayers along with the Stations of the Cross or similar prayer journey of the last events of Jesus' life from his arrest to his death and resurrection.
