For those 'disappeared'
Lord Jesus Christ,
you knew the religious authorities wanted you gone.
People wanted you stoned, dead, gone away.
You troubled their consciences, stirred the waters.
Look now with compassion
on all those who have been 'vanished' by authorities,
the disappeared, the 'lost', the departed.
You know where their bones lie.
Have mercy on their grieving families
and help the truth to be uncovered.
Help us always to remember the lost
and pray always that their loved ones may be comforted.
For your name's sake. Amen.

Prayers
In this space you are invited to pray for the people who live in this house. Some you might have met already, others are unseen and others you will never see, because they are in solitary confinement, taken hostage or simply disappeared. Yet all these are here.
You might like to light a candle as a focus for meditation, or focus on a person, or someone highlighted by Amnesty. You could also focus your prayers on a local prison, or pray for your prison chaplains and visitors.
You could also use these prayers along with the Stations of the Cross or similar prayer journey of the last events of Jesus' life from his arrest to his death and resurrection.
