For those tortured
Lord Jesus Christ,
you were flogged, humiliated and tortured on a cross.
You cried out in pain and suffering
but no one came.
Look now with compassion
on all those subjected to torture,
walk with them in their suffering
and witness their wounds in yours
Help us to speak out against torture,
against all inhumane treatment of prisoners
and to find in our hearts prayers for the torturers
that they find a way back from evil.
For your name's sake. Amen

Prayers
In this space you are invited to pray for the people who live in this house. Some you might have met already, others are unseen and others you will never see, because they are in solitary confinement, taken hostage or simply disappeared. Yet all these are here.
You might like to light a candle as a focus for meditation, or focus on a person, or someone highlighted by Amnesty. You could also focus your prayers on a local prison, or pray for your prison chaplains and visitors.
You could also use these prayers along with the Stations of the Cross or similar prayer journey of the last events of Jesus' life from his arrest to his death and resurrection.
