For those taken hostage
Lord Jesus Christ,
you were taken away from your friends
who did not come for you,
who did not speak up for you.
Look now with compassion
on all those taken hostage,
their families and friends
who love them and miss them.
Help us to remember them
however long their captivity
to keep their names alive
in the minds of the powerful
and to pray always for their release. Amen

Prayers
In this space you are invited to pray for the people who live in this house. Some you might have met already, others are unseen and others you will never see, because they are in solitary confinement, taken hostage or simply disappeared. Yet all these are here.
You might like to light a candle as a focus for meditation, or focus on a person, or someone highlighted by Amnesty. You could also focus your prayers on a local prison, or pray for your prison chaplains and visitors.
You could also use these prayers along with the Stations of the Cross or similar prayer journey of the last events of Jesus' life from his arrest to his death and resurrection.
