Words and Listening

This space is like a great city. There are all kinds of flats, houses, mansions. All kinds of places that people call home. There are sofa surfers and people who spend nights in hostels and hotels and B&Bs. There are also runaways and rough sleepers who occupy the backs of restaurants and alleyways and make their homes under bridges and in subways.

In this space, you can read and reflect on the thoughts and words of a variety of people as they comment on home and on homelessness. You might like to imagine them speaking to you within the space and listen to their different voices. There are thoughts about: home, a spiritual home, homeless people, helping the homeless, structural sin and natural disasters. We’ve added some questions to help you think about the words and the images.

You might like to note down any ideas, comments, dreams, criticisms, reactions or images which come to mind in your journal or on your blog.

Navigating the pathways

From here, you can travel as a visitor through a number of pathways through the various cell-spaces finding out what it is like to be an inmate here.

Yellow journey

Word and text based. You can interact with what people are saying and discussing about unjust imprisonment now.

Blue journey

Focussed on bible study, prayer, worship, song and reflective story telling.

Green journey

Engage with pictures, external web and book resources, video clips and various activities, including cooking and eating a meal.

Pink journey

Personal commitments, reflection, and following Jesus more closely. The final pink space is the space where you may or may not be allowed to leave, where you can consider what you have learned, been surprised by, challenged by and assess how you might have changed.

You can mix and match your journey through the different spaces depending on what you would most like to explore, study or do.
