Book, DVD and CD resources
In this part of the house you can sit down and make yourselves comfortable. Many people think of being at home as somewhere to relax after work, or to spend time with family. Maybe you turn on the TV or have a night in watching a film or listening to music.
So here are some suggestions for books, TV and films about home and homelessness. But while you’re watching, think about where you are and what you are doing. You could watch someone shivering in the cold, while being warm and dry yourself; you could watch a person stuck in no-man’s-land, without a passport, while being granted the privileges of citizenship and residence. You could listen to songs about being lost while knowing that you’re safe at home.
What stays with you from books, music and films? What would make you want to do something positive in your community?
You can use these ideas for reading, watching and listening on your own or as part of a film club, book club or music event for younger people.
After you watch these films or read the books you might like to write a review or jot down some thoughts in your journal or blog.
