For those who work to help the homeless
Lord Jesus Christ,
you did not pass by the beggar at the gate,
you reached out and called the lost by name,
you raised them up as people, loved ones, friends.
Look now with compassion
on all those who work to help the homeless:
police, social workers, doctors and nurses,
agencies, shelters and churches
Help us to stand with them in prayer
so that they may feel your presence,
your friendship and love
and so find strength to extend their hands to those
whom others pass by.
For your name’s sake. Amen.
