For those seeking asylum or refugee status
Lord Jesus Christ,
the people you loved were once refugees,
they knew exile, wandering in the desert,
their history is full of pain and loss,
they were captives at the mercy of strangers;
your own parents fled from persecution.
Look now with compassion
on all those who must leave their lands and home,
who hope for help from strangers,
who hope to rebuild family, community, culture
Help us always to remember
those among us who have lost everything,
who struggle to make sense of new places and people,
who hope they will find mercy, aid and justice
For your name’s sake. Amen.
