Spirit of the Living God
At the beginning you moved over the face of the waters.
You brought life into being, the teeming life
that finds its way through earth and sea and air,
that makes its home around us, everywhere.
You know how living things flourish and grow
How they co-exist; how they feed and breed and change
Help us to understand those delicate relationships,
value them, and keep them from destruction.

When people think about animals becoming endangered or extinct, they often think of high profile animals like pandas and tigers. But there are problems too for creatures which we are so familiar with that we overlook them, not realising that they are under threat as well. We don’t just need to save endangered wild animals, but also to safeguard the future of the creatures around us.
For example, bees in Britain are under serious threat and need our active help to safeguard their future.
Here are some things you can do to safeguard the future of bees:
- Find out all about bees and what they need.
- If you have a garden, plant bee-friendly plants.
- Use less insecticide.
- Support local beekeepers or find out more about keeping bees.
- Make a 'bee house' for solitary bees.
